They are so sweet and cuddly and they love to sit on your shoulder while you're at the computer and take showers with you! The green one is a Quaker/Monk Parrot and the yellow one (parakeet) we call Mini-me because he sticks to the Quaker like glue. The Quaker isn't talking yet but we are being extra cautious about what we say around it. :D The lady that had these guys were getting rid of them because they were "really really noisy". The funny part is, they haven't peeped since we brought them home. We decided to name the parakeet Sunshine and the Quaker Clover (because it's green). We don't now for sure what their sex is.

Carniverous Pitcher Plant

So Nick and I went to the nursery yesterday because I love plants, flowers, garden's, etc. Since we've moved into our new house I've been collecting misc plants. This winter Nick promised to build me a raised garden so I can plant food. Anywho, I saw that the nursery had a selection of bug eating, fly chewing, nat swallowing, pitcher plants. Of course, I had to have one. For some reason my neighbor likes to put manure on his lawn so we have lots of flies. Plus, do some reading on these plants, They are so kool! So, here are some piccies I took today. And hey, I know what you are thinking but don't say it! =P

Agave Cactus

Beagle, Cleo

Barrell Cactus

AJ

This is cool. The sphere I was under was the wave on the boat. It's made from 2 large blocks of styrofoam. The general design (of the wave) was mine and I did all of the carving though the person with whom I was working on it with definitely had a lot of input. She and I probably did an equal amount of spray painting. From the time the materials were delivered we had about 2 weeks to get it done. It could have probably been a bit better if not for the crammed time frame.

Best Friends Forever

Aren't these guys adorable? Although, tornado watching was no fun. :/

My new favorite picture

The Queens Court

these are my angles.:w00t:

Today's Tornado's 03-31-08

I took these pictures today, Monday March 31st around 3pm central before the tornado sirens went off in Burleson. After spotting this I called 911. There was some debate on whether this was just a wall cloud or a tornado but I've never seen wall clouds with rotation like this. The video isn't that great but you might be able to see the rotation.

Four seasons of Norway

-This is a collection of images(44 to be precise) from winter to fall taken from the same spot. Hope you enjoy. :)

The 1st two photos are in Estes park, which is at 7522 feet elevation, on the way towards Rocky Mountain National Park. The hotel is the Stanley Hotel, which is the setting for Stephen King's "The Shining". The elk are in the middle of the town. Small town though.

I shrunk the photos down about 90% for easier uploading.

Here's a photo from in the park last winter:

and again in the summer:

(no, I don't know those people)

(above and below are Bear Lake, within the park)

(I really like the photo above)

Surprisingly, I didn't really take any decent ones of the mountains at the edge of the park. Then I took some shots at home with my digital. Unfortunately, I got some minor hail damage on my car. :/ But, so far we've had a really great tornado season. A few weeks ago when I was in fort davis, hill country (Austin area) got a lot of activity. In december I got stuck between two massive fronts and the action was amazing. I followed it from Corpus Christi to DFW (about 5 hours apart). I'll attach those too. Kinda angry with myself for not getting any video of the rotation though, but you really aren't thinking about that when its about to drop on your head! =P

December

Flickr Photos - Darling Harbour At Night

Another batch for you guys... :)
I really love taking night shots, you can get some great effects.

Hope you like them :)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidjohnporter/sets/72157600055619654/detail/

Flickr Photos - Cruise ships

Here's some snaps from when the QM2 and QE2 visited Sydney Harbor towards the end of February 2007.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidjohnporter/sets/72157600039807317/detail/

:)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

-Brace yourself, remove sharp objects from your immediate vicinity, and prepare a quick escape route.
.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Introducing...

-Say hello to my niece, whom you will eventually submit to...

Here seen practicing her salute

Enjoying some light reading on military tactics

Trying out her throne

Examining her plans of reshaping the surface of the earth into fun animal shapes
