This would mean that I wouldn't have to come up with the graphics for a multi GOTM champ. Maybe it was just an unlucky game, but I was surrounded by those barbarians up until 760AD at which time my 3 cities were completely surrounded by all other civs.

Oh yeah. That was also the time I just decided to smack my monitor and give up.
mongoose201 (12/15/2006)
All victories are allowed in this game, guys.. Score was 15,664.

Kind of boring play to be honest... Asoka really isn't the style I usually play, especially without war. I never play raging barbs either... so I went straight for copper, and got a barracks in my second city and started making axemen. It turns out that with all the civs expanding, barb cities didn't really show up and my efforts were worthless. I ended up taking 7 cities culturally, so I probably could have gone for a cultural victory as I got one legendary city without actually trying for it.

RE: December 06 GOTM

All victories are allowed in this game, guys.. Get an error message that the file I'm trying to load is protected against having my assets modfied. I know that they are not actually modified, though maybe I've copied and pasted somethings and it is detecting that change. My vanilla files are unchanged, I am confident, but I do have mods I've made in other folders etc.

I wonder if maybe the Warlords installation or the update is maybe what is screwing with this?

*Sigh* doesn't look like I"m gonna be able to join in unless I go to the trouble of reinstalling everything in Vanilla.

Have you guys done any Warlords GOTMs yet?

I'll try this one out. On Warlord difficulty, I might actually be able to survive! However, because I have mostly played my "Scipio's Marathon Mod," my timing tends to be all screwed up for these lightning fast games. Will see if I can compensate or not. :)

RE: December 06 GOTM

Oooooh, so no Great Wall... interesting!

RE: December 06 GOTM

Looks like it will be a very interesting game! You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then PM your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]Dec06GOTM.Civ4SavedGame.

Good Luck

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.
