This game is for CivIV Warlords expansion

Version: 2.08

4 AI Rivals

Permanent Alliances Allowed - Modified Assets Locked

Start Position:

Victory Conditions

All Victories have been allowed EXCEPT TIME.

Highest Normalized Score in any of the active Victory Conditions will be declared GOTM Champion for March.

When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then PM your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]March2007GOTM.CivWarlordsSave (in a zip file)

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

  1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
  2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
  3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
  4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Good Luck all...

Note: The Forum software doesn't allow file extensions of the length of the Civ4 Warlords save file. For this reason, the start save is in a zip file and your submissions will need to be as well. If you are not sure how to accomplish this or how to unzip the start save, please post here and someone will help you.

Dang it. Wish I didn't have a heavy concentration of stuff coming up, combined with technical problems with Civ4. I'd love to play this.

I've increasingly thought that not clicking Time Win is the key to a fun late game. Nothing worse than feeling rushed at the end.

Time victory wouldn't have helped me in this case, anyway...   Somehow, a couple of neighbors expanded like we're playing civ3 and, of course, it seems like their economy didn't even slow down a wit...

We'll see what I can do in another victory route...which was the whole point in the first place, I guess...

Me too.  War was necessary for expansion in this one.  I only had two cities before I was crowded out but those Celtic Warriors came in pretty handy in bringing down my southern neighbor.  I think my northwesterly neighbor is next on my list since he hates my guts anyway and has a nice source of Iron in his control which will be necessary in order to take out the east monolith.

I got four cities before behing hemmed in. The problem now is that every AI, except one, likes me very well and they all like each other.  I attacked the one on the far end that we all hate so as not to get a diplo hit, but didn't get really far; plus I razed the cities I did capture because of cultural concerns (would have lost them anyway so far from home).  I'm building up with more modern units (read Muskets and Knights) to invade again.  I got one from my southern neighbor via a culture flip and could get two more, one each from two different neighbors, soon.

The problem I have now is that the other powers, especially one, have so more cities than me, they are quite ahead technologically, despite the fact that I founded 6 religions and have four shrines and have a strong treasury...I just don't have the cities for the those science beakers...

I haven't played very far, but so far I'm chugging along nicely. I went to war with my western neighbor, reduced him to a city, and am first in score...

Psst, don't know if anyone knows this, but if you build the Great Wall, it will actually show up on the map! I almost fell off my chair laughing... That's just bloody great!

It's 450 BC, and I have 5 cities (and 50% research); 3 religions; 2 Wonders; 1 city with Barracks and Dun cranking out units, rest on buildings. Now if only those nasty Axemen will stay away until I have some Chariots or Elephants all will be well...

Addited: I actually moved that first Settler onto, um, a nearby hill. Didn't even know the city tile would produce two hammers...
