ChampionGeneral Georges - Victory: Cultural Score: 8,620

This game is for CivIV Warlords expansion

Version: 2.08

Civ: Spain (Spiritual, Expansionist)

Difficulty: Noble

This is an alliance game... Your ally for this game is Russia (Catherine: Creative, Imperialistic)

Your team is faced by 2 random teams of 3 Civs.. (6 total) So, this could be an uphill struggle if those teams are friendly...

Your Starting Position:

Your Partners Starting Position: (Catherine)

Modified Assets Locked - Vassal States Disabled

Victory Conditions

All Victories have been enabled and all will be accepted EXCEPT TIME. So, because that victory condition has been enabled, you must finish the game before 2050 to post a viable score.

Highest Normalized Score in any of the active Victory Conditions will be declared GOTM Champion for April.

When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then PM your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]April2007GOTM.CivWarlordsSave (in a zip file)

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

  1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
  2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
  3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
  4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Good Luck all...

Note: The Forum software doesn't allow file extensions of the length of the Civ4 Warlords save file. For this reason, the start save is in a zip file and your submissions will need to be as well. If you are not sure how to accomplish this or how to unzip the start save, please post here and someone will help you.

You kid us not, calling this a struggle, good sir... I (mostly Catherine with a HUGE capital) managed to keep up techwise, but then team B and C met and went swapswap... This already *is* uphill, and there hasn't even been a war yet.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted... *lays down crown*

Well, I played the game right through tonight.  I've never gone for a cultural victory before and thought I'd give it a shot so that I could see the cool video at the end.  Sadly, my final score was 8620 .  I built so many wonders and everything and Catherine and I were able to stay caught up with tech.  Its probably because of my late vitory date that my score was so low or my small country!  The Ottmans were right beside me, and 3 of their cities converted to me, one of which I kept.  My culture was so big it was beginning to surround their capital and their other two last cities lol.  So in the end, I had built 4 cities and had this one converted.  There were no wars throughout the whole game.  I payed no attention to religion at the beginning, but I managed to found Islam, Christianity, and Poly(however you spell it).  I was getting really worried at the end that I would lose a space victory.  One of the teams managed to nearly complete the space shuttle!!!

The save at the bottom I believe is two turns before I won.  So check it out if you want.  I don't have a screen shot because I don't know how to take one lol.  Well, this is my first fully played GOTM.  Wasn't as high a score as I expected lol.  And I love the cultural video, but have decided that I'm more a fan of conquest and domination lol.

You have to zip it up (the .sav I mean ) and click on "Edit Attachments" to attach it. There's a button in the "Post Options" box, below the "Post Reply" box...

And while we're at it, you can take a screenshot by pressing the Prnt Scrn bttn on your keyboard, then Ctrl V it in Paint or something similar, save it as jpg, and upload...

Well done, on staving war off! Perhaps there is hope for me yet...

Going to give this a shot. Pity it's Izzy. I'd have preferred Rome or a militaristic civilization. Maybe there's something I can do with her that's interesting.

Here is my save and my victory screen!

Izzy has a unique building that replaces the castle.  It's the cidatel (spelling??? lol).  It give ur siege unites +5 experience!!!!  Combine that with the heroic epic and u'll have an unstobable siege for crushing city after city!

If only siege weapons were as fast as mounted units. I hate slowpokes. I highly prefer lightning fast snatch and grabs (Yes, I know, that's useful information, so? Catch me if you can!). Siege weapons just slow you down, but they're a necessary evil.
