Congrats to General Georges for his victory in the April GOTM... apparently he was able to tame the other teams while the rest of you languished in mediocrity.

Thats right

The lack of nearby strategic resources combines nicely with the vast barbarian wastelands in somewhat hampering my game...[/understatement]

I expanded quickly - normally this crushes your economy, but.... not giving away my strategy .  So barbs arn't affecting me too much .  And am leading in points - soon time for war with russia for land.

not gonna post my finished save since i lost unless you really wanna see it

Egypt won space race victory.
very close in the end with 4 races all real close and the leadership in space parts changing every few turns.
with all but 2 of my city's assigned to making parts i worked out id have it done with 10 turns to go before time up. but the Aztecs decided that it was a perfect time to come throw all they had at me. talk about timing

final score 3212 LOSS

Thanks for posting, even though it didn't go the way you would have liked...

Better luck next month.

I'm getting creamed so I think it's time to give up.  Got attacked unexpectedly and lost two cities and the war just decimated any tech advantage I may have had and it's nearly impossible to catch up.  Frustrating.

Okay, so far, it's the mid 1600's AD and I've been lucky, I think. I'm at the bottom of the heap in score, but I seem to be in the middle of the pack as far as tech goes, and I'm managing to edge up, albeit slowly. Peter leads right now, with the Incas not too far behind, along with Churchill.

What's been interesting is reading about the warfare problems others have had. I've been very fortunate in not having to go to war with anyone. Having Peter and Monty for neighbors is NOT my preferred start. I gave in to Monty and Peter once each, and so far, they've been fairly content to leave me alone for the most part.

I must say, tho', that this start sucks majorly. No horse, ugh. (Peter and Monty have Cavalry, and all I have to oppose them are pikemen and macemen.) I do have Iron, but I doubt I'll manage to have coal and aluminum. If I do manage to get those, I have a fighting chance to get the spaceship, which is about the only way I'm gonna win this one, since I don't particularly have an overwhelming military right now.

If it wasn't for my capitol, and my northernmost city, I wouldn't have been able to keep up this far. Those two are producing the majority of commerce/science for me.

This is a tough one. Hopefully I'll be able to pull off a space or diplomatic victory, barring some miracle that gives me an edge enough to wipe out Monty or Peter rapidly and boost my science rate.
