Champion Agamemnon Conquest in 1420AD Score: 19534

Greetings all... A bit late again, but a smaller map for your enjoyment.. This Game was submitted by May Champion Zigeuner

This game is for CivIV Warlords expansion

Version: 2.08

Civ:

2 AI Rivals

Start:

Special Conditions

This game begins in the classical era. You will not be able to build the Great Wall. With 3 civs on a small pangaea with raging barbs, the barbarians are going to be a problem. You begin the game with a Settler, Scout, Worker, and Archer.

Victory Conditions

All Victories have been enabled and all will be allowed.

Highest Normalized Score in any of the Victory Conditions will be declared GOTM Champion for June.

When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then PM your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]June2007GOTM.CivWarlordsSave (in a zip file)

What are the rules?
The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.

This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.

Cheating includes (and is not limited to):

  1. Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
  2. Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
  3. Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
  4. Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.

Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.

Good Luck all...

Note: The Forum software doesn't allow file extensions of the length of the Civ4 Warlords save file. For this reason, the start save is in a zip file and your submissions will need to be as well. If you are not sure how to accomplish this or how to unzip the start save, please post here and someone will help you or email it to me at (my username)@1bcciv.com

Here is my screenshot. Zip file PM'd to Mongoose.
Edit: Apparently there's a problem with doing that. It states an "unexpected error" without giving details. Save is therefore attached to this.

1420 AD Conquest victory. Those bloody barbs were murder.

Score: 19534.

Pity we can't replay. I can think of several ways to shave time off that.

Monty was easy. Louie, well, a tad harder.

But, dang, I had fun. It's been a while since I've gotten into a game that's just a messy hackfest. I *really* enjoyed myself. Pity my knights arrived too late to do any effective help. Samurai's are extremely valuable here.

I'm SO not going to win...I think I've only ever won ONE single GotM and that was millennia ago.

But I'm giving it a shot!  You will NOT win unopposed!  Grr!  Bark!

You will not be able to build the Great Wall

(boo!)

I was toying around a bit after disposing of the Aztecs and most of the French, to see if barbarians could pose a threat later in the game if they had half the world at their disposal, but alas, no such luck. They never got beyond longbows. I got bored and snuffed out the French for a leisurely conquest victory (leisurely meaning it was past 1900AD). If anyone wants to look at my .sav, then um, whatever.

Once again, I must ask myself why I put myself through playing Games of the Month, or even thinking I'm any good at these stupid games.

I hate this game, I really do. I may never play it again, I'm so tired of it.

And I've only played like 8 times (unless you count this scenario). I played Civ 1, 2, and 3 until I could do it in my sleep.

Yes I understand that this is not the same game. I know how to play this game...but not well. How you can get scores like this, I will never understand.

I got a conquest at 2046. For a total of 6,321. It's not even worth doing the work to get a screenshot or zip the save.

I was disgusted...figure, okay, let me try and do what these guys did.

So I played this scenario over

...and over.

.......and over.

You get the idea.

If I try a builder game, it's okay. I have a good time, sort of. I do the whole game and get ahead in tech (like I did) and eventually crush them...but even here with TWO civs...the French were, at one time 15 techs ahead of me. They didn't have that good an empire. The game abysmally cheats at even lord level. There is no way they could get that high in tech and be able to defend against the barbarians unless they're all heading my way.

So, one time I tried being the mayor of Raving (rooster)opolis and not only could I not get enough soldiers to get clear of the barbarians, when I finally did get to the Aztecs (which of course, I knew where they were), I got totally smoked.

Either the luck all goes your way or I am the suckiest player ever. I pay attention to terrain...I pay attention to odds...I didn't have any artillery because God help me, that would put another 1000 years on the clock.

I give up. Hopefully you'll find other people that are as ruthlessly bloodthirsty and with dice as loaded as you guys. I'm no competition.

Maybe I'll go play newb for a million times....get the bicycle at 2050 and rule the world with my kriegscycle corp
