| | Champion Nuclearcow: Victory - Domination in 1898 Score - 20,770 This game is for CivIV Warlords expansion Version: 2.08 Civ: Spain (Expansive, Spiritual) 3 AI Rivals
Note: This is a standard map with only 4 total Civs (Pangaea). There is going to be all kinds of room for all those raging barbs to spring up. Well, you might think that you'll just build the Great Wall to quell the Barbarian hordes..... Sorry, Classical Era start means no Great Wall for you... tsk tsk tsk.. muhuhahahaha
Start Position:
You will start with a Settler, Worker, Scout and Archer. If this seems similar to the last game, it is.... except that the world is larger. So, don't neglect that military. In your favor, this game is on Warlord Difficulty instead of Noble. Victory Conditions All Victories have been enabled and all will be allowed. Highest Normalized Score in any of the Victory Conditions will be declared GOTM Champion for July. When you complete the game, take a screenshot of the Victory screen where it lists your leadership counterpart in history. You may post the screenshot in the GOTM thread and then Email your final save (hopefully one just before victory) to me. Saves should be named as follows: [username]July2007GOTM.CivWarlordsSave The Email address to send the GOTM is my username @1bcciv.com ... Of course, instead of "my username" of course I mean the name I post with here at 1bc. What are the rules? The rules are fairly simple: Play fairly.
This means that you play within the spirit of the competition. As it is a friendly competition, we like to believe that there is no real incentive to cheat - but unfortunately, people do. Any persons found to be cheating will have their games removed, and there is a strong possibility that they will be banned from participating in the future.
Cheating includes (and is not limited to): - Playing the game multiple times and submitting the best effort (or even playing to get knowledge of the map, the replaying then starting the game again).
- Using any sort of programs to edit the game or save files.
- Altering the XML or using other mods that give you an unfair advantage.
- Reloading an earlier save-file and replaying turns in a different way. The only time you may reload a save file is to start a new play session, and you must use the save file from the end of your previous session.
Also, if in doubt, ask. If you think you have found a new loop-hole or exploit, then we strongly suggest that you ask as to its legallity before you use it. The aim of the competition is not to see who can exploit the rules, and as such, we reserve the right to disqualify submissions based on exploits that are discovered later.
Good Luck all... |

| Hi guys, I have been missing in action here on 1BC for a long time and stopped by again a couple days ago and saw the GOTM thread and remembered how I used to love those for CIV III, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I've played a lot of CIV IV, but mostly multiplayer. I thought I did pretty well.
Domination victory in 1898. Score 20770 (Augustus Caesar). I usually hate the raging barbarian setting. I built a LOT of axemen and gave them the 25% melee upgrades when I could and sent them away to forrested hills nearby and tried to fight the barbs there, which worked sometimes, but sometimes they just walk past your fortified troops, which is annoying. Why won't they just come to their death like I planned? I tried to get ivory nearby soon and made some war elephants which crushed the barbs. Only built 4 cities early on with lots of cottage/hamlets, so when I later went out and took barbarian cities, I didn't totally go broke. I built my cities up a lot and later realized I'm wasting my time, so I went for Cavalry a little earlier and absolutely walked over the Koreans in the 1800s. I'm not sure I lost more than 1 or 2 cavalry total against them. I built up to invade the Greeks, but seeing their cavalry and musketmen (right before I invaded) made me realize I waited too late, so I kept peace with them and sent my stuff over to the Brittish. By the time I declared war, I already had 69% of the land, so I knew I could only take a city or two before I hit 70% land, which I did. Self critique. I've only played ancient era before and always play marithon setting, so I realized I built up too much and too long before attacking. I ended the game with 51 Cavalry. Stupid. I could have won much earlier than 1898 if I had used them earlier. I enjoyed it. |
