This thread is for the senate to vote on the proposed draft of an Article of Law:

DECISION

By Majority, the Senate decides the following:

Resignation Law

If an elected official resigns, then his deputy (if available) will manage the position on an interim basis, until a replacement can be elected by the people. The deputy may run in said election.

If no deputy is available, then an election must be held as soon as possible to fill the position.

JUSTIFICATION

This law is required to remove confusion around what happens when an official resigns. The reason for the deputy holding the role on an interim basis is allow the game to continue in the short term where possible whilst elections are run to find a replacement.

---------------------------------------------

All votes are to be cast in person with a call of Aye in favor, Nay if not in favor, or Abstain if indifferent to the proposed draft.

The senate has passed this motion.

This Article of law is now deemed valid.

Ah... good ole' 20070726.  Almost brings back memories of that wild 17020275, good times...

Thought we could do with naming based on the date, rather than an arbitrary #1, #2, etc. Some articles may not pass and then we'll be left with gaps in the numbering...

Ah, just noticed the numbering was based on the date after reading that.  I think that would be clever for future votes.  Not to mention,  people who aren't already aware of our work schedule will think we've actually been busy working around here.

Wouldn't that be terrible?
