Ah, I almost forgot about this after an MSN chat with Mongoose a while back... Since this game is no longer being played, the saved game may now be downloaded and played by anyone who is still interested. Kind of as an unofficial GotM. Of course this only applies to people still on Warlords 2.08... which might just be me... I'll have a go and post my final result here... Then I can upgrade to 2.13... or BTS...

Well, the Princep who ran away with the loot did good Smile

Cultural Victory in 1968AD. Normalised score 7482. Not that high, but a win nonetheless... Smile

We remained peaceful, founding five religions (!). Hence I made Bibracte, Tolosa and Vienne into our major cultural centres.

We weren't the top of the pack, but our culture got us across the line before the Inca finished their spaceship.

This was my first win at Prince level Smile

Well done! We won, we won! Wow, your question about cottages makes a lot more sense now; you seem to be quite fond of farms... City placement looks a little off too (if you don't mind my saying; if you do mind, well, never mind ). You have an enormous stretch of jungle right next to your capital! There's enough room for an entire city there, on the easternmost hill. Build one other farm for faster growth (total of 3), mine the 2 hills for quicker production and cottage the other 7 tiles for a decent science contributor. Is there any reason you didn't settle there?

Yeah I started this game a while back, made a few errors, but learned a few things in my subsequent games. I needed to finish it off so I could get onto BTS... You're right about city placement, I was thinking a bit "civ3" about it all and then wasn't sure if overlap of boundaries was a good idea, so I went the other way instead. I think I didn't settle there early cos I had some issues with the barbs, and then my other cities were enough to work with. Once it became obvious I was going to clinch the cultural victory, I just went through the motions.
